Former Formula 1 car designer makes move into furniture design
December 7th, 2007:
Having spent several years at the pinnacle of motor sport design with Williams F1, Matthew Rodgers has made a move into furniture design. As a founding partner of Lowther Fine Furniture, Matthew will be designing all the furniture and hand making the majority of bespoke pieces.
Matthew's work in Formula 1 design included chassis, bodywork, suspension components and wings. Speaking about his move into furniture design, Matthew said, "Working at the height of an industry like Formula 1 teaches you that clean aerodynamic body lines coupled with well resolved functional design is what is needed to succeed. I am passionate about taking these principles with me into the design of my furniture and to use my experience in Formula 1 car design directly in my work."
Matthew will be on the company's stand at Design Interiors (NEC, 20-23 January), along with a number of private client and production pieces. Visit us there or, alternatively, call 01409 241583 for more information.
